Medical Alcohol Addiction Treatment and Non Medical Alcohol Addiction Treatment in North Dakota
May 15, 2008
There are basically two types of alcohol addiction treatment in North Dakota – the medical treatment program and the non medical treatment program. The basic difference between these two treatment programs is the features they entail.
The medical treatment program, for instance, will have a detox program was an important part of the treatment, while the non medical treatment program will not have the detox program per se, but may refer a patient to detox if the need arises. So it is very important to understand when does the need really arise for a detox. In people who have been under the alcohol addiction very long so much so that it is now taking a toll on their health and creating various other kinds of problems directly connected to the addiction, the detox program becomes very important. This detoxification helps to remove the toxic substances from the person’s body and to make the person’s body as clean as it was before the addiction.
But if the person has not been into a long term alcohol addiction, then the addiction treatment program in North Dakota will probably be non medical. In such a case, the person will simply be counseled on an outpatient basis on how to give up the substance and to stay a sober life.
It must be understood that in many cases, the medical and the non medical addiction treatment programs in North Dakota will run side by side. These two treatment methods supplement each other and that is how most treatment programs for alcohol addiction in the state are run.
