May 7, 2008

The state of New Jersey is both famous and infamous for a lot of things, but one of the most vicious problems that are stalking this state currently is that of heroin addiction. Heroin addiction in New Jersey is at such a phenomenal high in New Jersey that it is definitely a matter of the gravest concern.

The stark numbers of heroin abuse and heroin addiction in New Jersey are enough to send shivers down the spine of anyone who reads them. The state sees a total of 55,000 admissions to different rehabs located in its different regions each year. This number itself is quite huge and enough to make everyone alarmed. But that’s not all. Within this huge number is hidden the large number of heroin addicts who seek treatment in the state each year. About 43% of these people every year are checking into the rehab centers to fight problems with heroin abuse and heroin addiction. This is far larger than the numbers of heroin abuse anywhere else in the nation. In fact, this number is larger than that of all the other drug users combined in the state.

The problem is more serious because New Jersey is one of the few states that have access to high grade heroin. That means the people who are into this drug addiction in New Jersey are into a bigger health problem and their addictions are much more severe than in other states. The ready availability of heroin is one of the most important contributors for the popularity of the drug here.
